This Friday, we are incredibly fortunate to have David Frangioni speak at MuE forum. Mr. Frangioni is the founder and president of Audio One (http://www.audio-one.com/index.php), a home automation and theater system company. In addition, he is an accomplished engineer, producer, and musician as well. His experiences include engineering albums for rock artists such as Aerosmith, as well as being the official music technologist for the MTV show “The Osbournes.” We appreciate that he is willing to take the time to talk to the MuE department.

Please join us for forum this Friday for a special presentation from Paul Stewart and Mike Chaffee from Genelec, as well as David Maclaughlin from Parsons Audio. In addition to being the Vice President of sales, David is a former director of the audio engineering program at the New England School of Communications at Husson University. They will be discussing proper use and placement of monitors, why quality and clarity matter, as well as the checks and balances of evaluating a mix. They also plan on continuing their discussion after forum until 11am in Weeks Studio.

This week, we will have something different at forum!
The FORE Center, which does research involving the combination of music engineering and physical therapy, will be conducting a listening test during forum this week. The test will be done using an iPad app and earbuds, asking users to make listening judgements on audio.
We hope that you will participate in the study – should be very interesting!

Marko Gill is a current second year Masters student in the Music Engineering program. His undergrad was completed at the University of Tennessee majoring in Electrical Engineering. Marko started his MS immediately upon finishing his undergraduate studies. While attending the University of TN he completed several internships including two summers at Y-12 Nation Security Complex and a single summer at Livid Instruments. He was selected to present at AES 135th convention on contract work completed at Livid Instruments. He now works as a research assistant at the FORE Center as the lead Embedded Developer.
