Weeks Studio Research Lab

The L. Austin Weeks Studio Research Lab consists of an array of Macintosh and PC computers. The lab has a variety of software packages installed, allowing students to work on various projects involving the analysis and editing of sound and music files, creating web pages, designing loudspeakers, editing digital video, and creating sound effects.

Some computers in the lab interface with special-purpose digital signal processing (DSP) hardware and codecs so that students can write DSP programs and then audition the results on live audio signals. All of the computers are equipped with Sonic Foundry's Sound Forge, MATLAB, and other programs. The Weeks Studio Research Lab also serves as a technical archive, holding both printed and electronic journals. Several of the computers are connected to the internet and the school intranet.
